Blue and Gold

Last night was the Blue and Gold dinner for Cub Scouts. It was a great evening full of friends, skits and awards. Alex recieved his Wolf Badge but can't wear it on his uniform until he does a "good turn". Evan got tons of merit and achievement pins. He will get his Webelos badge at the Cross Over dinner in a few weeks when he also will move up to Boy Scouts.
Aren't they just the cutest in their uniforms???

Getting better....

Things here are definately looking brighter than they had been....Dad's stuff has been moved out of our garage and is now helping several other families in the area. It was ironic how the day the people came to get Dad's stuff the message in church (we had gone for Scout Sunday) was it's not what you say but what you do that shows that you are a Christian. We used this as a lesson to the boys about helping others is more important sometimes than what you say.

Valentine's Day was nice....the weekend before we were at Costco and the boys picked out a bouquet of carnations and a bowl of tulip bulbs....it's been fun this week to watch the tulips grow and bloom. They also got me a new pair of pjs (LOVE pjs!) and a gift card to Kohls. Dave and I were actually able to go out alone on Valentine's Day without having to pay a sitter....Alex was at his grandparents' and Evan was at a friends for a sleepover! What a treat that was......
We've had a busy and productive long weekend (boys have been off since Thursday....go back on Tuesday). Dave arranged things in the garage so he has a little workshop and bought himself a new tool...claiming he needed it for the Pinewood Derby cars! I got all the laundry done...so much that I ran out of hangers! Today...Dave bought me a new computer for my scraproom....a desktop (REALLY FAST ONE!) with a flat panel monitor!!! OMG....it's amazing!!!
Today I am so thankful for my family....they are so supportive and uplifting when I really need them!!!

A long time

It's been a long time since I've posted...and a long start to the new year! I was doing so well with cleaning and organizing and all, then WHAM.........I feel like I got hit by a mack-truck. Two weeks ago (today) my dad died....talk about knocking the wind out of my sails....it was so sudden. While he wasn't the healthiest individual (what do you expect after 60 years of smoking), to our knowledge there was nothing serious wrong. So here I sit with so many unanswered questions....feelings I don't know how to express...guilt, sadness, loneliness...... I was never really close to my dad, which now that he's gone I am having a hard time with. Was there something different I should have done? Someone who knew my father was talking to me a week or so ago and said it very nicely....my dad was never the cuddle, warm fuzzy kind of dad. Maybe that's why I never felt really close to him.

But now...where does that leave me? Strange to think that I no longer have either one of my parents here with me on Earth. It's just my brother and I.....both my parents were the last of their siblings left. But now my parents are together....where no one is sick and there is happiness. This February 10th would have been my parents 51st wedding anniversary....comforts me that they will be together again.

I do want to thank all my pals, especially those gals at the Shaker Box, who while physically were not here, they were with me in spirit. They will never know how their words of thoughts for me comforted me and made me feel as though things would be okay! Love you gals!
