Found a treasure

Spent Saturday and Sunday up at my brother's going through some boxes of Dad's things....didn't even get through a small chunk of the stuff but did get through a few boxes. Found a lot of JUNK (please...how many pens, paperclips and pencils does ONE man need!) but also found some treasures....some thing we came across....
**dad's enlisting papers for the Navy in 1949
**a marriage keepsake booklet from my maternal grandparents from June 23, 1923...and if you didn't know Dave and I were married June 23, 1990.
**loads of photos....some we had seen, some we have no idea who they are of, and some from our childhood (some of which I don't remember ever seeing).
**lots of geneology papers from both my parent's families....although I think Dad's side is a little more recorded.
**a letter written between two female relatives (not exactly sure who) dated May 1907....my mom's older brother's birth announcement from 1925.....my maternal grandfather's 8th grade diploma from 1917. It is amazing to hold in my hands a letter that is nearly 100 years old.....

Seeing these things makes me want to get started on albums on both my parents and on my own (as well as Dave's) childhood....so many unanswered questions regarding photos and family and no one left to answer them.

Thirteen for Thursday

Okay...here's another list.......

1. I have the most wonderful Mother-in-law....drove an hour to meet her for a wonderful lunch at a cute little Mexican place...had a great chat with her.
2. Teaching an online class tomorrow at THE SHAKER BOX on those darling little Box albums..come join us! I'll be starting about 7pm (Pacific time)
3. Been asked (informally) to do a long term sub job next year....need to get the details tomorrow. It's at the school right here (where Alex goes)...so I am REALLY tempted as I LOVE that school and staff!
4. My heart goes out to those families and students in Virginia....although I am getting tired of the news and every other tv show centered around it.
5. Scarey there are copy cats out there.....
6. Dave's got the application in hand for the new company that is buying the one he works for....thankfully no doubt he'll be hired by the new company...maybe even with some extra perks!
7. Going through some of dad's things this weekend....hope it doesn't rain...wish Dave could go up with us.
8. Looking forward to spending the weekend with my brother..we don't get to spend a lot of time together.
9. The boys are THRILLED to get to go up to their uncle's house.
10. Where did spring go????
11. Gotta watch Survivor tonight..heard tribal council is going to be a good one!!!!
12. 8 days until I get the house to myself!!!
13. Should probably go eat...getting a headache!

Can't stop the creative juices!!!

Have seen these cute little books at the local scrap store but have never had time/money to take their class on how to make it....sooo, thank goodness for the world wide web....searched for it, found it, and within a couple hours I made it!!! So fun and easy....would probably take longer but I didn't put photos everywhere nor did I put lots of embellishments.

Off to make something else.....

Did I mention that in 2 weeks I will have the house to myself for 48 hours!!!! NO BOYS.....big or small...NONE...NO ONE....JUST ME!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!

Mini box and cards

Creating...

lots of fun things lately.........

Yesterday I went to my friend's house for a CTMH workshop where we made the CUTEST little boxes and sets of 3x3 in. cards. They were so easy and fun....and even better she gave us the patterns so we can make our own at home!!!!! What a fun little gift for teachers and friends. Hmm, may have to make a set in red/white/blue for Alex's teacher!

Also been scrapbooking lately using the new book by Creating Keepsakes Easy Patterns! Loving that book.....love to precut my LOs and then pull them out when I have a chance and just assemble them!!!!!

Thirteen for Thursday....

Here's my 13 for Thursday......(posting just a few hours early...)

1. LOVIN' my new scrapbook room!!!!!
2. Been making tag albums to sell in my friend's photo store....hope they sell!
3. Evan's got his camp physical tomorrow...PRAY that he needs NO shots!!! Don't think I can hold him down anymore!
4. Loving the new CK Easy Patterns for Scrapbooking book....maximize your paper to get layouts done!
5. Having fun lately subbing in kinder...they are just so cute!
6. Decided NO ONE in my family will ever ride a quad....local sheriff was killed on one yesterday and a teacher's husband was severely injured (hence the reason I have been teaching in kinder a LOT) a few weeks ago.
7. Signed up to be a co-captain of a Relay for Life team....we're making it a family team so our kids will walk with us.
8. Can't believe that in a couple weeks I will be ALONE ALL WEEKEND!!! Can we say every mother's DREAM!!!! Hmm, wonder what I will be doing???
9. Been reading a lot of books lately...like one every other day............really should be sleeping more!
10. Evan's on spring break this week....he's been scrapbooking with me and learned to knit!
11. Getting tired of hearing about Imus and his rude comments....kick the guy off the air and get on with it!
12. Hmm, almost done...
13. Have I mentioned that I LOVE LOVE LOVE my new scraproom....

After a week and a LOT of work my room is finished!!!! Few little touches to add but for the most part it's done.......yeah!!!!!!!! Need to still bring up my sewing machine and put it on the desk under the window....get some more cubes for the closet and finish putting a few things away! I LOVE IT!!!!! It turned out sooo good!!!!

Almost done....

Wow...what an undertaking my scraproom became!!!!! But here I sit....in my BEAUTIFUL new room...not all completely done yet....still need to move stuff up, put shelves up....organize things...but I do have the walls painted, and the floor done....table, computer, and basic essentials in.......and sooo much room!!!!! Have room for Grandma's small desk (which I'm going to set my sewing machine up on) and will still have room for a friend to come and set up a table to play!!!!!!
